Crisis Communications

We’ve helped some of the world’s largest companies tackle tough communication challenges to protect their brands.

Crisis Plan for World’s Largest GTL Plant

Kathy traveled to Qatar to help the world’s largest gas-to-liquids plant prepare for its first planned maintenance shutdown. She advised executive and communications teams on crisis communications strategies and worked with them to craft a detailed crisis communications plan for internal and external audiences.

Post-Hurricane Communications

When Hurricane Harvey struck the Gulf Coast and shut down much of the Houston area, Community Strategies helped a community bank with multiple locations communicate critical updates to employees and customers during and after the storm, thus providing essential recovery services, preserving business, and earning industry recognition.

Pandemic Response

As the coronavirus wreaked havoc on the cruise industry, Community Strategies helped the fourth busiest cruise port in the U.S. craft important messaging about the port’s role and responsibilities in ensuring worker and community health and safety. These communications also enhanced the port’s reputation as a responsible operator and regional leader in crisis preparedness and response.

Branding

We thoughtfully craft brands based on solid strategic planning to meet each client’s unique set of goals.

New Brand for Century-old Bank

When a century-old community bank set out to refresh its brand to grow its business in Texas, it retained Community Strategies. We began with internal and external research to understand the culture, business goals, obstacles, customer needs and competition. With a refreshed look and dynamic marketing, the 6th largest community bank in Houston is set to grow in other Texas regions.

Brand Rollout for World-Scale Industry

When a global-scale agricultural and commodity chemical manufacturing company and a world-leading industrial gases company began planning a combined $1.1 billion project in Texas City, they called on Community Strategies for branding, communications and stakeholder engagement.

Reputation Management for Water Utility

Established more than 50 years ago to provide water to communities, industries and agriculture in Brazoria, Fort Bend and Galveston counties, a regional water utility called on Community Strategies for robust communications to tell its story and enhance its brand.

Community Strategies provides comprehensive communications services including:

  • New brand look and messaging
  • Social media
  • Crisis communications
  • Media and community relations
  • Employee recruitment
  • Internal communications

Corporate Communications

We bring corporate best practices we’ve gathered over the years to support your goals through internal and external communications.

Communications for Major Energy Company

Community Strategies has been a communications consultant to multiple business units across one of the world’s largest energy companies to drive their brand, vision and goals internally and externally. We created and executed comprehensive communication plans for operations across the U.S. The plans included print, digital, video, community and government engagement, media and more.

Post-Crisis Culture Change

After a catastrophic explosion at one of the nation’s largest refineries, the company committed to rebuild not only the refinery but also its culture and brand. Kathy advised the company’s communications team on long-range internal and external strategies and managed the internal communications campaign that included an 8-person news team, TV, print, video and online news postings.

The campaign was central to creating a culture of safe, compliant, reliable operations; improving performance; and earning public trust. It was such a success Kathy was asked to replicate the model across the company’s global chemicals business unit.
